Limited distribution. Could not find this doc playing anywhere except on small theater in Chattanooga and I managed to miss the one weekend it was there. (I don't live in Chattanooga but I do occasionally visit.)
Wayne White is one of those artists whose work everyone knows and yet no one knows him. A brilliant, humble man, this documentary makes you want to press pause and go make something. Such a great film. I'm so glad I got to see it.
An Inspiring Movie For All Artists and Creative Folks
I was a long-time fan of Pee-Wee's Playhouse, and especially loved it for the art direction, so when I heard that a movie had been made about the art director of Pee-Wee's Playhouse, and to top it off, it was premiering here in Chattanooga, I so wanted to go, but I got lost and went to the wrong theater, and missed it. Sigh. But then I found it on Amazon Prime and got to watch it, finally. It was a wonderful movie, touching, fascinating, amazing, and with so much to say about the struggles of creative people. He's managed to continue to create, to keep his fantastic originality, to not sell out while at the same time keeping his head above water, well, he's just an inspiration! The movie reminds me a lot of the movie about R. Crumb, except White is not so dark but a somewhat more sanguine character from what we see in the movie, although he's certainly had his ups and downs and he has a piquant touch of bitterness that keeps him from being too sweet. Most Amazing Movie
Wayne, Mimi, LouLou and Woody are an amazingly talented family. They give me hope and I am beyond in love with Wayne's point of view of life and his attitude. Such a great film!!
